A Webster native, John Casciani has roots that go back to the early settlers of the town through his mother's family, the Klems. He began learning the construction business at the age of 15 as a laborer for his father, Anthony, and his grandfather, John, in their masonry business. After graduation from Bishop Kearney High School, he went on to earn a degree, with honors, in construction engineering and management. John embarked on his building career through the masonry business, but meanwhile, became a licensed real estate agent and began to purchase, rehabilitate and manage residential properties in Webster.
By the time DeWitt Farms and Bay Meadows were developed, John had become a skillful home builder and had built custom homes on some of the most unique and challenging lots in Webster, including many Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario waterfront properties.
In 1985, John began the decade-long process of purchasing and combining the three separate parcels of land that made The Bluffs and obtaining all of the approvals necessary for development. This was not a simple process because of the fragile environment and the many agencies involved, and John approached the long review and approval process in a very positive way. Comments and suggestions made by environmentalists were always considered and often incorporated. He knew that these improvements to his development of The Bluffs would only enhance the value of this unique parcel. This spirit of cooperation evoked plan changes that John feels produced a most unique and superior project, well worth the wait!
